RetroArch is shipped with a set of configuration files for the most common joypads. Each of these platforms have one or more input systems. The set of joypad profiles used by RetroArch can be downloaded and updated from the menu. I love the 8bitdo controllers but I've yet to have one work properly out of the box with RetroArch (I just bought a SN30 Pro and its giving me more Use ROMs from the ROMset that matches the core.
